Simple Little Mermaid Activities
Ideas for Great Party Entertainment

Make sure to plan Little Mermaid activities for your Ariel party. Listed below are some of our favorite mermaid games and activities.

Little Mermaid Guess-Who Game

Preparation: Make index cards with the names of different characters in The Little Mermaid. Write one name for each card. Characters include Ariel, Triton, Sebastian, Scuttle, Flounder, Prince Eric, Max the dog, Ursula, Flotsam, Jetsam, etc.

If your guests cannot read yet, put pictures or stickers of the characters on a card.

Directions: When guests arrive, tape one card to their back. The object of the game is to guess what name is on the card on your back. You do this by asking the other guests “yes” and “no” questions about the character.

For example: Am I a mermaid? Am I nice to Ariel? Ask questions until you guess the name on your card.

Under-the-Sea Instrument Play

Preparation: Start the party with music. Gather musical instruments you have and The Little Mermaid music. Instruments could include rhythm sticks, bells, tambourine, maracas, xylophone, drum, harmonica, recorder, etc.

You could also have household item instruments such as bowls with wooden spoons to drum, water bottle containing a little rice to rattle and lid covered bowl with pasta noodles inside to shake.

Directions: Turn on The Little Mermaid music. Let the guests choose an instrument and play and sing along to the tune. Rotate and share instruments.

Pasta Mermaid

Preparation: Dye several shapes of pasta different colors such as pink, purple, green and blue. Small sea shells can be used as well. Draw or copy a mermaid outline on construction paper. Gather crayons and Elmer’s glue.

Directions: Give each guest a paper with a mermaid outline. Instruct them to decorate it. They can color with crayons and paste the colored pasta and shells onto the paper.

When they are finished, let them sign their masterpiece. Hang the pictures up in the party room for decoration during the rest of the party.
